Anna Brownfield, Dr Gilbert Caluya and Luigi Vescio will From developing a performance practice with non-human forms, subverting normative expectations of desire through feminist porn film and an examination of the politics of artists boycotts of festivals and organisations in solidarity with oppressed minority groups. The conversation will approach ways in which queer identities can challenge the status quo and embrace new possibilities for coexistence, creating space for ambiguity, care and intimacy.

Anna Brownfield

Award-winning feminist erotic filmmaker Anna Brownfield has gained extensive media attention for the originality of her work.

Coming from an experimental and art film background, she has progressed towards narrative film while retaining a unique and highly arresting style. Her films look at strong female characters, female gaze, sex, sexuality and domestic craft.

Gilbert Caluya

Engagement: LAB.01

Gilbert is an accomplished researcher with over a decade of research experience on projects working with minority communities, government agencies, community/arts organisations. He has over two decades of experience working with, and serving in, community and arts organisations focusing on multicultural and queer communities. He also serves as a public educator and is available for advanced workplace training in diversity and inclusion.

Luigi Vescio

Engagement: LAB.01

Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Luigi Vescio is a cross-disciplinary artist creating works for theatres, galleries, digital and outdoor spaces. From a queer feminist perspective, his practice engages with ideas pertaining to memory, intuition, authorship, sexuality and desire. His recent work enquires into the changing accessibility of intimacy in an increasingly individualistic and digitalised society. ​​
Luigi’s work has been supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Creative Victoria, Temperance Hall, Dancehouse, Ian Potter Cultural Trust, Chunky Move, Performance Space, PACT, Diversitat, Nillumbik Shire Council, City of Greater Geelong, EIRA (Portugal), Polo Cultural Gaivotas Boavista and the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (Lisbon City Council).
