Kickstart showing: ekspansi
Ekspansi means “expansion” Indonesian. For me the word is relevant to my practice at the moment of expanding my skills and expression and language / taking up more space. I’m also thinking about how expansion could resonate with “Australians” generally to interrogate expanding our identities to more than just “brown/black/white” etc, like a cultural expansion – what that feels like for us?

Engagement: LAB.01An immersive experience for audiences to sink into genre fluidity scaling traditional sounds and contemporary beats. Visuals of rippling cinematic landscapes, trance and dance ethnography, juxtaposed with lofi hyper realities of contemporary Indonesia and Larrakia country. Join two mixed race artists (I Made Liam Budalasia and Jocelyn Tribe) integrating and processing their Indonesian diaspora through samples, analogue drum machines and synths. They present an opportunity to reach beyond the surface layers of accessing culture to nurture and grow toward a greater sense of belonging.
